F.A.Q.s

. ........

Q1 When can I start to drive?

A1. You need to be at least 17 years of age and have a Provisional Driving Licence.(If you are disabled or in receipt of mobility allowance then the minimum age is 16 years).

....

Q2. Do I need to pass my theory test before I can start having driving lessons?

A2. No. It is in fact a good idea to take the theory test after you have had a few lessons as you will benefit from the in car theory tuition that you will receive whilst you are driving.

....

Q3. How many lessons will I need?

A3. Everyone is different and progress at different rates . You will be continually assessed and informed of your progress. You will also have a card showing the skills that you have covered.

....

Q4. Can a friend or a family member teach me to drive?

A4. Yes, if they are over 21 years of age and have held a driving licence for at least 3 years. We strongly recommend that you start to drive with an Approved Instructor in a dual control car for safety reasons. Also you must be careful not to pick up bad driving habits from your friends and family. However there is no substitute for practice when you are coming up to taking your driving test.

....

Q5. How will I know if I am ready for my test?

A5. Be guided by your instructor. He is the best person to advise you on whether you are competent enough – no one wants you to waste time and money on taking a test before you are ready.

....

Q6. Where will I take my tests?

A6. There are test centres throughout the country but our pupils normally take their Theory Test at Stoke. Their practical test is taken in Stafford .

....

Q7. When can I drive on the motorway?

A7. Once you have passed your practical driving test. However, as you have no experience of motorway driving we would recommend that you consider taking the Pass Plus Course which covers, amongst other things motorway driving.

....

Q8. Is there any benefit in taking a Pass Plus Course?

A8. Yes. You will cover areas not normally encountered during your driving test. Also you can use your Pass Plus Certificate to gain a substantial discount on your first years motor insurance.
